Abstract

EF, or Education First, states that Indonesia is ranked 15th in Asia, while Singapore is ranked at the top, followed by the Philippines and Malaysia (Redaksi Bisnis Asia, 2022). Based on the facts above, it shows that Indonesian society still has a low proficiency in the English language. Through observations at Panti Asuhan Al Mubarokah located at Jalan Kelor II, Pondok Cabe Ilir, Pamulang District, South Tangerang City, it is evident that many students, especially middle school students (SMP), face several difficulties in communicating in English. One of the most common challenges they encounter in English conversations is the lack of vocabulary they possess for engaging in dialogue and the lack of self-confidence to speak up and practice using English in daily conversations. Therefore, as one of the efforts and implementations of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the Community Service for Students Pengabdian Mahasiswa kepada Masyarakat (PMKM) aims to provide training for Junior High School students to enhance their understanding of proper and effective vocabulary structures in English. This training will also help boost their talents and self-confidence so they become accustomed to using English in their daily conversations. Furthermore, to instill the spirit of education and social responsibility towards society, we will adopt a fun learning theme so that the students are expected not to get bored quickly in understanding the materials provided during this community service. This will foster their high interest in learning English and enable them to apply it in their daily activities.
