Mengatasi Tantangan Peralihan Bahasa: Solusi Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia Bagi Anak Imigran Di Pesantren Malaysia

Anak-anak imigran Indonesia yang menetap dan mengikuti pendidikan pesantren di Malaysia berada dalam situasi kebahasaan yang kompleks. Lingkungan sosial dan pendidikan sehari-hari mendorong mereka untuk menggunakan English–Malay sebagai bahasa dominan, sementara pembelajaran formal di pesantren menuntut penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia secara monolingual. Perbedaan konteks bahasa ini menyebabkan munculnya tantangan berupa pergeseran bahasa (language shift), kebingungan bahasa, rendahnya penguasaan kosakata formal, dan menurunnya kepercayaan diri dalam berkomunikasi menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia. Kegiatan ini bertujuan mengkaji pengalaman linguistik anak imigran dalam menghadapi peralihan bahasa tersebut serta merumuskan solusi pembelajaran yang relevan melalui pendekatan PKM. Dengan menggunakan kerangka teori language shift, translanguaging, serta pembelajaran bahasa anak migran, pengabdian ini menawarkan strategi pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada penguatan identitas kebahasaan, peningkatan kompetensi linguistik, dan pengembangan literasi terarah sebagai upaya memfasilitasi proses adaptasi linguistik anak ketika kembali ke Indonesia.
